Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced on Friday that he was stepping down, paving the way for the election of a new prime minister after a year in office.
According to Reuters, Suga, who took over after Shinzo Abe resigned last September due to health problems, saw his performance support fall below 30 percent, while Japan suffered the worst wave of the epidemic. Corona is struggling in the run-up to this year's general election.
