Thursday, 2 September 2021 (YJC)_ The UN Special Representative for Afghanistan has warned of a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, saying that food stored in UN warehouses in Afghanistan will run out by the end of September this year.
Ramiz Alakbarov, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Afghanistan, said the food stored in the UN depots for Afghanistan would run out by the end of September this year.
He added:
Afghanistan is on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe. Despite the fact that the United Nations and its partners will do everything possible to prevent this catastrophe, they will not be able to do so without strong and generous international support.
Alakbarov noted:
The main problem is food shortages. More than half of Afghans who wake up in the morning do not know if they can get food today.
