Paris' stance on Afghanistan; Formation of a transitional governmentA spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry told reporters at a weekly news conference on Tuesday about the latest developments in Afghanistan.
We are working with our partners to build the widest possible international consensus on developments in Afghanistan.

According to the French Foreign Ministry website, the French Foreign Ministry spokesman said in response to a question about Paris' latest reaction to the developments in Afghanistan and the country's conditions for recognizing the Taliban:
France's position is clear. As President and Secretary of State Emmanuel Macron has repeatedly emphasized, we have set the conditions. We want them to work, not just words. We are working with our partners to build the widest possible international consensus on this.

A spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry added:
At the heart of our demands is respect for human rights, the protection of all those entitled to asylum, and the freedom to leave Afghanistan for all who wish to do so. Respect for human rights, especially respect for the dignity of Afghan women and the elimination of terrorism, free access to humanitarian aid and the establishment of a transitional government through the ongoing negotiations in Doha are among our expectations.
