Tuesday, 31 August 2021 (YJC)_ The Iranian Health Ministry announced that over 31,319 new Covid-19 cases has been detected in the country in the past 24 hrs.

Iran Covid-19 live Update: Death Toll Tops 107K, Cases Near 5MThe Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson announced on Teusday that 31,319 new COVID-19 infections have been detected across the country in the past 24 hours.

“31,319 COVID-19 infections and 643 deaths due to the disease in the past 24 hours” the spox said while adding that “This brings the total number of cases to 4,992,063.”

The spokesperson went on to say that “643 COVID patients have lost their lives in the past 24 hours that bring the total death toll 107,794.”

“7,879 people are being treated in ICUs in hospitals across the country, while 4,205,927 have already gained recovery,” the health ministry added.

The Iranian health ministry also announced more than 28.89 million coronavirus diagnosis tests have so far been carried out across the country.

Iran has seen a major surge in the number of coronavirus deaths and infections in recent days as the Delta variant of the virus continues to spread across the country.

According to the latest figures, more than 218,094,710 people have so far been infected with the novel coronavirus globally, with the deaths standing at 4,527,001 and recoveries amounting to 194,994,534.
