Tuesday, 31 August 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian Foreign Minister said the country’s new government believes Negotiations should have tangible achievements.
In an interview with the state TV after participation in the Baghdad Summit, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, put emphasis on the fact that he government of President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi believes Negotiations should have tangible achievements and in this case, is ready to continue talks with the world powers in Vienna.
“Any meeting with the countries of the region is welcomed but foreigners want to play a role in the region is not in our interest,” Amir Abdollahian said.
He went on to refer to the country’s continued support for Iraq, and added “The presence of foreigners and occupiers in the region is not useful in our mind.”
Elsewhere in his remark he pointed out the Vienna talks to revive the JCPOA and said “it is clear to other parties that Iran welcomes a logical negotiation, we do not want to escape from it but tangible achievements in the interests of the Iranian people is the thing of high important for us.”
Amir Abdollahian also talked about the next round of Vienna talks and said, “It will take two to three months for the new government to take office and plan for any decision and other sides understand this.”
Regarding the latest developments in Afghanistan, the new Iranian foreign minister said “our support is with the government in Afghanistan that respects the will of the people of the country in determining their own destiny.”
“Americans are behind all the incidents that have happened in Afghanistan, if foreigners give up on Afghanistan, the leaders of all Afghan tribes, parties and groups have the wisdom to decide for the future of their country.” he highlighted.
He also announced about Afghanistan neighbors meeting that “We started talks with some of Afghanistan's neighbors, including Pakistan,” and also said the country has plans and consultations with Afghanistan's other neighbors and the ultimate goal is to help achieve the desired situation in this country by using the capacity of its neighbors.
