Saturday, 28 August 2021 (YJC)_ The Iranian Health Ministry announced that over 26,000 new Covid-19 cases has been detected in the country in the past 24 hrs.
The Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson announced on Saturday that 26,034 new COVID-19 infections have been detected across the country in the past 24 hours, 4,002 of whom required hospitalization.
“26,034 COVID-19 infections and 614 deaths due to the disease in the past 24 hours” the spox said while adding that “This brings the total number of cases to 4,895,448.”
The spokesperson went on to say that “614 COVID patients have lost their lives in the past 24 hours that bring the total death toll 105,901.”
“7,845 people are being treated in ICUs in hospitals across the country, while 4,117,098 have already gained recovery,” the health ministry added.
The Iranian health ministry also announced 28,556,919 coronavirus diagnosis tests have so far been carried out across the country while warning that 359 cities are rated red, 59 cities are orange, and 30 cities are yellow.
Iran has seen a major surge in the number of coronavirus deaths and infections in recent days as the Delta variant of the virus continues to spread across the country.
According to the latest figures, more than 214,194,825 people have so far been infected with the novel coronavirus globally, with the deaths standing at 4,469,371 and recoveries amounting to 191,678,190.
