Zabihullah Mujahid, a former spokesman and current Taliban minister of culture and information, stressed in an interview today (Saturday) the need to combat poppy cultivation in Afghanistan.
He told the Russia Today website that the Taliban would step up their counter-narcotics activities after consolidating power in Afghanistan.
Zabihullah Mujahid added: Nearly three million Afghans are currently addicted to drugs. This is very painful for us. We will try to stop the cultivation and production of drugs. In 2001, we were able to reduce the cultivation and production of various drugs. We will act in the same direction now.
