Saturday, 28 August 2021 (YJC)_ The Iranian Foreign Minister said: We welcome any regional initiative by the Iraqi authorities. Syria also needed to be invited to the Baghdad summit.
Before traveling to Iraq to attend the Baghdad meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said: We welcome any regional initiative by the Iraqi authorities with the participation of the people of the region.
The Foreign Minister added: We believe that it was necessary to invite Syria as an important neighbor of Iraq to this summit. Of course, we are in contact and consultation with the Syrian leadership regarding the security and sustainable development of the region, and we will consult directly with Damascus about the Baghdad summit and the emphasis on the important role of the countries in the region in any regional initiative.
