US State Department spokesman Ned Price said Friday night that the United States had evacuated 105,000 people from Afghanistan since Aug. 14.
Speaking at a news conference, he added: "No decision has yet been made on the future of the diplomatic presence in Afghanistan."
Referring to the fact that the management of Kabul Airport will be handed over to the people of Afghanistan, the US State Department spokesman added: "We will talk to our allies and partners about the future of interaction with the Taliban."
He added: "Some of the things we are hearing from the Taliban right now are positive and constructive, but we will focus on action, not words. The Taliban have promised to ensure the safety and health of diplomats and we look forward to seeing this in real life."
