Friday, 27 August 2021 (YJC)_ Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow had not yet recognized the Taliban's rule in Afghanistan.
"Russia has not yet recognized the Taliban," Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian president, told reporters.
He added: We have said before that we are closely monitoring the situation in Afghanistan. We believe that the superiority of the Taliban in Afghanistan and the coming to power of this group and taking control of most of the country is a fact.
According to Peskov, the Taliban's next steps in Afghanistan must be monitored in order to restore public order and security.
He continued: "Undoubtedly, in the first place, the future actions of the Taliban in establishing order and ensuring the security of Afghan citizens should be considered." It is very important for us to ensure the security of Russian diplomats and the Russian diplomatic center in this country.
"First we need to look at how the Taliban dominate Afghanistan in practice," Peskov said.
