Friday, 27 August 2021 (YJC)_ The Russian Foreign Minister called for the resumption of Vienna talks on JCPOA as soon as possible.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called for a resumption of Vienna talks on the UN Security Council as soon as possible.
Russia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Lavrov had said in an interview with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian that Vienna talks on the UN Security Council should begin as soon as possible.
"The Russian side stressed the need to begin the Vienna talks on the status of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear program as soon as possible," the statement said.
Earlier in the day, the media reported that Lavrov had met with Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna to discuss the BRICS.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the main areas of the IAEA's activities, including the peaceful use of nuclear energy, the reform of the International Atomic Energy Agency's safeguards system, as well as the implementation of the JCPOA.
