Thursday, 26 August 2021 (YJC)_ During a meeting at the Pentagon, the Israeli prime minister and secretary of defense discussed a number of issues, including Iran's nuclear program, Washington-Tel Aviv security cooperation, as well as maintaining Tel Aviv's military superiority in the region.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who is in Washington, met with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
According to a Pentagon statement, Austin reaffirmed the United States' commitment to Israel's security during a meeting with the Israeli prime minister.
Accordingly, Secretary of Defense and Bennett discussed what were allegedly "threats to Iran's nuclear program and support for terrorism and naval aggression."
"Austin and Bennett have agreed to work together on air and missile defense and counterterrorism systems," the statement said. Austin also reaffirmed the United States' commitment to greater stability in the Middle East.
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office also issued a statement on the meeting, saying: "A number of regional, diplomatic and security issues were discussed, especially ways to prevent Iran's aggression and the progress of its nuclear program."
