Wednesday, 25 August 2021 (YJC)_ The Iranian Health Ministry announced that 39,983 new Covid-19 cases has been detected in the country in the past 24 hrs.
The Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson announced on Wednesday that 39,983 new COVID-19 infections have been detected across the country in the past 24 hours, 4,871 of whom required hospitalization.
“39,983 COVID-19 infections and 665 deaths due to the disease in the past 24 hours” the spox said while adding that “This brings the total number of cases to more than 4,796,377.”
The spokesperson went on to say that “665 COVID patients have lost their lives in the past 24 hours that bring the total death toll 104,022.”
“7,755 people are being treated in ICUs in hospitals across the country, while 4,020,844 have already gained recovery,” the health ministry added.
Iranian Health Ministry's Public Relations Center also said that 28,213,229 coronavirus diagnosis tests have so far been carried out across the country. The center warned that 359 cities are rated red, 59 cities are orange, and 30 cities are yellow.
Iran has seen a major surge in the number of coronavirus deaths and infections in recent days as the Delta variant of the virus continues to spread across the country.
According to the latest figures, more than 214,194,825 people have so far been infected with the novel coronavirus globally, with the deaths standing at 4,469,371 and recoveries amounting to 191,678,190.
