Wednesday, 25 August 2021 (YJC)_ The German Chancellor announced Berlin's readiness to work with Iran and Pakistan to facilitate the affairs of Afghan refugees.
The German chancellor said Tuesday night that his country was ready to work with Iran and Pakistan to help Afghan refugees.
According to Reuters, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Tuesday that talks between the G-7 leaders on Afghanistan did not lead to an extension of the August 31 evacuation deadline for leaving Kabul.
"Consultation at the meeting to extend the evacuation mission from Kabul did not yield any results," Merkel told reporters after the virtual meeting.
He added that there was a heated debate among the leaders attending the G7 summit about whether civilian airports could be used to evacuate Western nationals after the deadline.
The German chancellor said the country was ready to work with Afghanistan's neighbors such as Pakistan and Iran to help Afghan refugees.
