Sunday, 22 August 2021 (YJC)_ Former Bolivian president's lawyer says Jeanine Áñez cut her wrist while in prison; Police reported that it was a suicide attempt.
Former Bolivian president's imprisoned lawyer Norca Solar reports that her client tried unsuccessfully to commit suicide by cutting her wrist, according to Reuters.
"This means that the former president is asking for help," she told reporters. she feels very scared. The doctor found her with her arm amputated. There were three cuts on her left wrist. They sutured the incisions.
Anez was arrested earlier this year on charges of involvement in and plotting a coup to overthrow the government of former Bolivian President Evo Morales in 2019. she denied the allegations, saying she had been the victim of political repression and was currently in custody pending trial.
