Asked about China's position on recent developments in Afghanistan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told reporters today (Friday) that Beijing hopes to form an inclusive government in Afghanistan and meet the needs of the Afghan people and the international community.
According to the Global Times, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said in response to a reporter's question, "Does China recognize the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban)?"
"China has witnessed various parties (in Afghanistan) negotiating and China hopes for a government that is comprehensive and inclusive and that its representatives have moderate policies and meet the expectations of the Afghan people and the international community," she said.
