As US Americans leave Afghanistan in a hurry, US Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Asia next week.
According to Reuters, Harris' visit to Vietnam and Singapore comes at a time when US allies are questioning the validity of Washington's foreign policy promises.
US allies complain that Joe Biden has not consulted enough with them on the decision to leave Afghanistan by the end of this month, despite his promises of a commitment to international engagement.
Harris will arrive in Singapore on Sunday and will stay in Vietnam for two days on Tuesday as the first US vice president to travel, Reuters reported.
A White House official told Reuters that Harris's emphasis during the trip was on defending international law in the South China Sea, strengthening US regional leadership and expanding security ties.
