Tuesday, 17 August 2021 (YJC)_ The Chinese Foreign Minister strongly criticized the performance and hasty withdrawal of Washington troops from Afghanistan, saying that this action will have serious negative effects on the country.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi condemned the country's hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan this morning (Tuesday) in response to a phone call from his US counterpart Anthony Blinken.
Wang said the irregular and rapid withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan would have "serious negative effects" on Afghanistan, but promised that Beijing would work with Washington to promote stability in the country.
According to Reuters, the US State Department issued a brief statement about the phone call, saying that Blinken had spoken about "the security situation in Afghanistan and the country's efforts to protect the security of American and Chinese citizens."
However, the Chinese side explained the dialogue, Wang told Blinken that the realities on the ground in Afghanistan showed that a foreign model should not be used arbitrarily in a country with different historical and cultural conditions.
According to Beijing media, the Chinese Foreign Minister said: "The use of force and military means to solve problems only increases them. "The lessons [learned from the US presence in Afghanistan] deserve serious attention."
He added that China was also willing to work with Washington to prevent a new civil war or humanitarian catastrophe in the wake of the dire consequences of the hasty withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
