Japanese Foreign Minister emphasizes long-standing friendship and open exchange of views with Iran

Saturday, 14 August 2021 (YJC)_The Japanese Foreign Minister, who is scheduled to visit Iran in the next few days, stated that Japan is in a position where it can openly exchange views with Iran by taking advantage of its long-standing and traditional friendship with Iran.

Japanese Foreign Minister emphasizes long-standing friendship and open exchange of views with IranIn an interview with the Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat published today (Saturday), Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi addressed a variety of issues, including relations between Tokyo and Tehran, as well as Syria.

According to Asharq Al-Awsat, the Japanese Foreign Minister is scheduled to start his visit to several Middle Eastern countries, including Iran, starting tomorrow (Sunday) with a visit to Egypt.

"Japan is in a position where it can openly negotiate with Iran through its long-standing and traditional friendship with Iran," the Japanese foreign minister said in response to a question about the role of Iran and Japan.

At the end of his remarks, he said that Japan intends to work closely with related countries, including Saudi Arabia and Iran, in order to use its unique position to actively reduce tensions and stabilize the Middle East.
