Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov today (Friday) called for the participation of Iran and India in the Afghan peace process.
"Moscow supports the expansion of the participation of international mediators in the process of ending the crisis in Afghanistan, including Iran and India," Lavrov said.
"The Taliban's progress in Afghanistan is due to the positions of the Kabul authorities," he said, referring to the fall of the Afghan capital one after another to the Taliban.
"An urgent Security Council meeting on Afghanistan will be useful if it helps to have a real peaceful dialogue, not just to buy time," he said.
