According to the Voice of Almanamah, Bahrain's Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society issued a statement on status in the country. The population has stated that the main demand of the Bahraini people is to achieve their rights and the establishment of democracy in the country.
"Establishing democracy, freedom, justice and respect for human rights in Bahrain does not require convincing other countries to do so," the Jamiat al-Wefaq said in a statement, according to the report. It is the system of government that must achieve these goals.
The statement added: "All Bahrainis oppose oppression, tyranny, hegemony, monopoly, corruption, injustice, social disintegration, abuse of power, coercion and the imposition of laws based on the arrogant ideology of the ruling regime."
Al-Wefaq added: "The intensity of the Bahraini regime's actions to prevent it from moving towards compromise and successful political solutions shows a weak, sick and unhealthy mentality. What is happening is not only a war against the citizens, but also a war against the homeland and its future and the insistence on plundering most of the country's wealth".
