According to the Arabi21 newspaper, the Arab Organization for Human Rights in UK stated: The decision of the Saudi judiciary to detain 24 Palestinians accused of supporting the Palestinian people is cruel and political, and was issued after a trial that has had the lowest standard of justice.
The organization said that the rulings issued by the Saudi judiciary are in support of the siege of the Palestinian people and the elimination of their problem. The trials that took place have no legal basis, especially since most of the detainees were legally resident in Saudi Arabia and did not violate the law.
In February 2019, Saudi authorities arrested more than 60 Jordanians and Palestinians without formal charges. On Sunday, Saudi Arabia sentenced them to prison. The sentence is from three to 22 years.
"It is strange that Saudi Arabia insists on issuing harsh sentences against Palestinian prisoners, some of whom are Jordanian nationals and some of whom are elderly and sick, such as Dr. Mohammed al-Khadiri, who is over 80 years old and has a dangerous illness," the statement said. .
The organization called on the UN Coalition for Detention to press for the release of all Palestinian and Jordanian detainees.
It also called on civil society groups, activists, journalists and human rights defenders to oppose the sentences and press Saudi Arabia for the release of the detainees.
