A number of Democratic members of Congress have called on President Joe Biden to close Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, immediately.
The petition, filed by 75 members of Congress on the eve of the 9/11 attacks, claims that the continued operation of Cuba's Guantanamo Bay prison is nothing more than a disgrace to the United States' commitment to human rights and law enforcement.
Congressmen also called on Joe Biden to issue an order as soon as possible to address the situation and fate of the detainees in the torture chamber.
According to the report, the prison, which opened at the beginning of George W. Bush's presidency and after the 9/11 attacks, has housed 800 inmates so far.
