Wednesday ,4 August 2021 (YJC)_ Arrangements have been made for the swearing-in of new Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi at a ceremony in the Parliament that is expected to host officials from 73 counties.
High-ranking foreign officials from around the world are arriving in Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Raeisi, due to be held on Thursday, August 5.
The inauguration ceremony of the incoming president will start at 5:00 pm local time (1230 GMT).
Around 115 officials from 73 countries have voiced readiness to attend the ceremony, including 10 heads of state, 20 parliament speakers, and 11 foreign ministers.
Heads of 11 regional and international organizations are also going to take part in the event, among them the secretary-general of OPEC, a representative of the United Nations secretary-general, and officials from the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), European Union, Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation.
The organizers say they have invited fewer guests to the event compared to the previous inauguration ceremonies, citing the coronavirus restrictions.
Some 170 Iranian and foreign reporters are going to cover the swearing-in ceremony.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei officially endorsed Raeisi as the eighth president of Iran during a ceremony in Tehran on Tuesday, attended by a group of senior Iranian state and military officials.
