Tuesday ,3 August 2021 (YJC)_ The Afghan foreign minister stressed that the government was ready to share power with the group if certain conditions were met by the Taliban.
Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar told the Izvestia newspaper that the Afghan government was ready to make peace with the group if the Taliban met certain conditions. We are ready to work with the Taliban. We are ready to bring them to the government. We are ready for peace and sharing of power with them.
He continued that there are not many conditions for this. It is the free will of the Afghan people that determines the future of this country. Afghanistan should not be a threat to any country and there should not be a single foreign terrorist on its territory.
Atmar added that the government is ready to accept the Taliban as part of its body, provided the group does not support terrorism.
Earlier, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid described Afghan President Ashraf Ghani's speech at a special session of the Afghan National Assembly as "nonsense" and said: "Ghani's declaration of war, accusations and false reports, will not increase his presidency's life.
