Voicing Iran's readiness to help establish peace, the Iranian foreign ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh calls on Azerbaijan and Armenia to show self-restraint.
He expressed concern over continued border clashes between Azerbaijan and Armenia troops and expressed regret over the losses of lives and injuries of people from both countries and said “Both sides should show self-restraint.”
He went on to stress the need for peaceful settlement of border disputes and called on the two countries to get over the tensions and conflicts and respect the internationally-recognized borders
Khatibzadeh also urged countries to achieve perpetual peace in the South Caucasus region as soon as possible and expressed Iran’s readiness to help them establish sustainable peace in the region.
On Wednesday, Azerbaijan’s armed forces opened fire on Armenian positions in the NE sector of the border, killing three Armenian servicemen and wounding two.
