Saturday,24 July 2021 (YJC)_The Iranian ambassador to Zimbabwe stressed that the illegal sanctions imposed by the United States against Zimbabwe are a form of economic terrorism.
Abbas Nawazani, Iran's ambassador to Zimbabwe, stressed that the illegal US sanctions against Zimbabwe are a form of economic terrorism against its citizens.
He made the remarks after meeting with Zimbabwean National Assembly Speaker Yaqub Modanda.
Nawazani told reporters after the meeting that the two sides also discussed various issues of interest, including trade and economic relations and the strengthening of parliamentary diplomacy.
"We also discussed international issues, illegal US sanctions against our friends Zimbabwe and Iran," he said.
The Iranian ambassador added: "We support Zimbabwe in the face of these illegal sanctions and consider these sanctions as economic terrorism against the ordinary people of this country."
"They are targeting the Zimbabwean economy as well as the Iranian economy," Nawazani said. He added that Iran will continue to cooperate with Zimbabwe.
According to the report, the issue of Palestine and Iran's peaceful nuclear program were also discussed during the meeting.
