Tehran, YJC. Iran is going to partake in the Frankfurt book fair
1,297 titles from 282 publishers are going to be put on
display by the Islamic Republic of Iran at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
The 2014 edition of the event, slated for October 8-12, is
to see Iran fielding 250 books at the children’s booth, 180 ones from Tehran
Publishers Union, 70 titles under the subject of Sacred Defense - which address
the 1980-1988 Iraqi imposed war against Iran, and 50 titles under the subject
of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Iran’s stand at the fair is also to host the unveiling of
five titles. The country is expected to invite more than 110 occasions for
negotiation with foreign publishers.
The fair is held by Germany’s publishers union and
independently of the country’s government. The event is considered a technical
one, which hosts the public only on its two last days.
The organizers have boasted it as the place where the entire
industry gathers, and new trends and fields of business are discovered.
Its last edition hosted 7,275 exhibitors from 102 nations,
631 literary agents, about 9,300 journalists, 275,342 visitors, and 170,664
professional visitors.
Iran will also attend book fairs in Istanbul, Sharjah, and
Algeria later in the year, and is currently arranging to attend an event in
Dagestan.
Iran itself holds an international book fair in Tehran every
year in May.
