Saturday, 12 June 2021 (YJC) _ Iran's permanent envoy to the UN said Washington is still pursuing the so-called "maximum pressure" campaign against Tehran.
Addressing the meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations to review the annual report of the Security Council, Iran's permanent envoy to the UN Majid Takht-Ravanchi said Washington is still pursuing the so-called "maximum pressure" campaign against Tehran.
He explained the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran on some developments in the Middle East in 2020 and the relevant actions of this council, referred to the nuclear deal and said “The incumbent U.S. administration's assertion of a strategic shift toward the 2015 multilateral nuclear deal is merely rhetoric. In fact, the U.S. policy of maximum pressure remains in place, prohibiting Iran from utilizing its own financial resources overseas to acquire medicines.”
He went on to refer to the ongoing talks took place in Vienna and added “These talks are the first step in assessing the accuracy of the U.S.'s true political will to return to the JCPOA.”
“The main and true test will come after verification, that is, when it is proven that the US has abandoned its failed policy of maximum pressure, and stopped its economic terrorism against Iran,” Takht-Ravanchi said.
The meeting of the Joint Commission of the JCPOA and the continuation of negotiations in Vienna for the revival of the deal are scheduled to resume today in the Austrian capital.
