Friday, 11 June 2021 (YJC) _Iran’s ambassador criticized the IAEA for its partiality.

Gharibabadi criticizes the IAEA for its partialityIn his remark on Friday, Iran’s ambassador to the Vienna-based international organizations Kazem Gharibabadi addressed the last meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors in Vienna and criticized the IAEA for its partiality.

He urged the international body to stop biased treatment of member states and said “The Agency should stop acting in a way that directly or indirectly supports the political agenda of certain parties against others.”

“This method of biased treatment of member states not only harms the nonproliferation regime but also reduces trust in the Agency’s professional activities and lowers cooperation between the Agency and its member states,” he added.

Gharibabadi went on to advise the UN nuclear agency to refrain from pursuing any political agenda, asked them to take a firm stance on the Israeli regime’s "unacceptable" failure to join NPT, called it “a bitter historical joke,” while adding “Israel ignores the international community by downplaying the importance of the NPT and placing all of its nuclear facilities and activities under the Agency’s comprehensive safeguards regime.”
