Saturday, 01 May 2021 (YJC)_ The Iranian Health Ministry spox announced 17,080 new Covid-19 cases has been detected in the country.
The Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson, Sima Lari, announced on Saturday that 17,080 new COVID-19 infections have been detected across the country in the past 24 hours.
“17,080 COVID-19 infections and 332 deaths due to the disease in the past 24 hours” Lari said while adding that “This brings the total number of cases to more than 2,516,157.”
She went on to say that “332 COVID patients have lost their lives in the past 24 hours that bring the total death toll to 72,090.”
“Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 2,390 patients have been admitted to the hospital,” she added.
“5,421 individuals are experiencing critical conditions while 1,971,064 have already gained recovery,” she said while saying “So far 15,961,178 tests have been taken across the country to detect cases.”
Following a dramatic surge in coronavirus infections in recent days Iranian health officials urged people to stay at home, and businesses in Tehran have been forced to close for two weeks.
According to the latest figures, more than 152,134,031 people have so far been infected with the novel coronavirus globally, with the deaths standing at 3,196,536 and recoveries amounting to 129,439,942.
