Friday, 30 April 2021 (YJC)_ The Iranian Health Ministry spox announced 19,272 new Covid-19 cases has been detected in the country.
The Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson, Sima Lari, announced on Firday that 19,272 new COVID-19 infections have been detected across the country in the past 24 hours.
“19,272 COVID-19 infections and 407 deaths due to the disease in the past 24 hours” Lari said while adding that “This brings the total number of cases to more than 2,499,077.”
She went on to say that “407 COVID patients have lost their lives in the past 24 hours that bring the total death toll to 71,758 and makes one of the highest numbers of fatalities over the past five months.”
“Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 3,202 patients have been admitted to the hospital,” she added.
“5,367 individuals are experiencing critical conditions while 1,954,321 have already gained recovery,” she said while saying “So far 15,830,271 tests have been taken across the country to detect cases.”
Following a dramatic surge in coronavirus infections in recent days Iranian health officials urged people to stay at home, and businesses in Tehran have been forced to close for two weeks.
According to the latest figures, more than 151,240,582 people have so far been infected with the novel coronavirus globally, with the deaths standing at 3,182,092 and recoveries amounting to 128,650,026.
