Thursday, 29 April 2021 _Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Omani Minister of Royal Office General Sultan bin Mohammed al Nu’amani have discussed bilateral economic ties as well as major developments in the region, particularly the Yemeni crisis.
In a meeting with Nu’amani on Thursday, the Iranian foreign minister, who is in Muscat on the third leg of a regional tour, said the two countries should try to make achievements in certain necessary areas in line with views of their high-ranking officials.
He hailed Tehran-Muscat cooperation in various political and economic fields as well as in the regional developments.
Zarif also informed the Omani minister of the latest developments surrounding Iran’s negotiations with the P4+1 group of countries aimed at reviving the multilateral nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed between Tehran and major world powers in 2015.
Nu’amani, for his part, welcomed the exchange of visits between the Iranian and Omani officials, saying this would help both sides become aware of their stances.
Stressing the importance of mutual relations, the Omani minister called for the expansion of cooperation with Iran, particularly on certain regional issues.
In another meeting between Zarif and Omani Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said on Wednesday, the two sides called for the removal of obstacles in bilateral ties and acceleration of the decisions made by the two states to improve the relations.
