Tehran, YJC. Iranian and Nigerian parliamentarians have discussed cooperation prospects in agriculture and animal husbandry.
Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and Nigerian head of
parliamentary agricultural committee Mohammad Taher Mongono met in Tehran on Monday.
Speaking in the meeting Larijani said "As one of the important
African countries, Nigeria enjoys unique features and potentials especially in
agriculture, which must be tapped into in order to further expand mutual relations.”
Pointing to Iran’s progress in the mechanization of
agricultural production, the Majlis speaker added "The Islamic Republic of Iran
is ready to convey its experiences in the production of agricultural and animal
husbandry products to Nigeria and to engage in bilateral cooperation.”
He also pointed to recent terrorist attacks in Nigeria and
said "Terrorism is an international problem which has unfortunately grown in
size due to contributive actions by the US and some Western countries as a
result of a tactical approach to it.”
"On the other hand, we always believe that such an unwelcome
phenomenon has to be fought decisively.”
