Tehran, YJC. Qatari civil official says his country needs Iran’s cooperation in trade.

Saud al Hanrab, Director if Qatar’s Cities Central Council attended Tehran City Council’s session on Tuesday.

He expressed hope that Iran and Qatar will use the current favorable situations to enhance their cooperation in trade and tourism.

We have a lot of projects underway. A while back, a trade delegation from Qatar visited Iran which intended to invest in free zones and ports, he maintained.

Hanrab stated "Al Rowais port is being created near Bushehr. Qatar has invested around $30 billion in it. Due to the short distance and direct contact between the port and Bushehr as well as the gigantic investment, we are seeking to launch a direct maritime fleet between the two to transport goods including construction material and food.”

As you know, the Qatari government is to host the 2022 soccer world cup. Hence, there are infrastructural projects underway in our country to complete which we need Iranian goods, building material in particular, he maintained.

Hanrab also wished that the Iranian national soccer team will qualify for the 2022 finals and said "The connection between al-Ruwais and Bushehr can kick off a good trade current between the two countries. As you know, due to the high quality of Iranian food and the fact that they do not contain chemicals, Iranian foods are favorites of the people of Qatar.”
