The statement said 26 of the female prisoners had been sentenced to varying prison terms, the longest belonging to two prisoners, Shurooq Dwayyat and Shatila Abu Ayyad, who are each serving a jail sentence of 16 years.
Israeli army practices physical and psychological torture against Palestinian women arrested in unlivable cells in Israeli jails and prevents their lawyers from visiting them.
Statistics show that the number of Palestinian prisoners at Israeli jails reached some 5000 prisoners including administrative detainees and women and children.
People here say as the world is marking the International Women’s’ Day, Palestinian women are suffering from aggression either in Israeli jails or under suffocating siege or threats by Israel on the impoverished enclave.
