Pakistan demos called off after govt. vows to meet protesters demandsUnionized government employees are continuing a protest in and around D-Chowk in Islamabad as of early Feb. 11. The purpose of the demonstration, which began Feb. 10, is to demand increased salaries. Protesters attempted to march to Parliament House but were stopped by a heavy police deployment. Police fired teargas in an attempt to break up the gathering. Participants reportedly plan to continue the action until their demands are met.
