Friday, 29 January 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian Foreign minister rejects the idea of Iran attempting to attain atomic bomb.
In his remarks during a joint news conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Istanbul, Turkey, Iranian Foreign minister rejects the idea of Iran attempting to attain atomic bomb.
“Iran does not consider nuclear arms as a tool for security, rather Tehran urges for destruction of these weapons by those who stockpile them,” Zarif said.
He, moreover, said “Iran’s activities concerning its nuclear program do not mean that the country is trying to attain atomic bomb. The Islamic Republic, rejects this kind of weaponry, both ideologically and strategically,” he said.
He wen on to make remarks about US possibility to return to JCPOA and said “the US decided to withdraw from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and then put pressure on other signatories to the agreement to accept its unilateral sanctions against Iran,” while adding that “Tehran witnessed how Turkish companies and banks have been sanctioned by the United States; this is a blatant law-breaking act.”
“Should Washington return to JCPOA and comply with all its commitments, Iran will fully implement its own obligations,” Zarif added.
‘Wishes and claims of the new US administration on Iran’s return to the JCPOA is irrational and will not come true,” he said while referring to the recent remarks made by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
