Iranian Army’s Ground Force starts drill on southeastern Makran coast

Tuesday, 19 January 2021 _The Iranian Army’s Ground Force has launched a new drill to assess the combat readiness of its military units as well as the pace of their deployment from territorial areas to mission zones.

Iranian Army’s Ground Force starts drill on southeastern Makran coastThe drill, codenamed Eqtedar (Strength) 99, kicked off on the southeastern Makran coast on Tuesday, in the presence of Army Chief Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi and Ground Force’s Commander Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari.

Airborne brigades, special forces and rapid reaction units are participating in the military exercise, which is being supported by the Army’s Air Force and Aviation Unit.

During the maneuver, a variety of creative tactics designed domestically will be put into operation in order to evaluate the multifold skills of the Ground Force’s professional brigades.

Hundreds of paratroopers also parachuted from several C-130 military transport aircraft and landed on designated locations.

They also used equipment such as motorcycles, 107mm rocket launchers and 23mm cannons in the drill area to attack and capture mock targets.

Deputy Commander of the Iranian Army Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Dadras hailed the Ground Force as a “capable and leading force” in various battlefields.
