Tuesday, 19 January 2021_US President-elect Joe Biden is working on behalf of the white elite to prevent a revolt by the working class in the United States, American political commentator Wilmer Leon has said.
“What I really hear Joe Biden doing is, this is one white member of the elite in this country reaching out to the disaffected whites in this country, working really on behalf of the elite trying to heal this schism, and this problem, because that the one thing that the white elite in this country don’t want is a revolt by the working poor, and labor classes in this country,” Leon told Press TV on Monday.
Biden has called for unity as he prepares to take the oath of office to lead a divided nation and the crisis-laden White House on Wednesday.
Biden on Monday marked the Martin Luther King Junior holiday with a trip from Delaware to pack food bags for charity in Philadelphia. It was a gesture symbolizing his call for Americans to come together after four divisive years. In a video call, Biden stated that service is a fitting way to start to heal, unite and rebuild the country.
The 78-year-old Democrat is set to start his presidency with a number of domestic issues, including out of control COVID-19, stumbling vaccine distribution and ailing economy.
President Donald Trump, who refused for more than two months to accept the results of the disputed November election, has been out of the public sight since his supporters rampaged through the Capitol building on January 6, disrupting the certification of the November election results. Five people were killed in the siege.
