Trump slammed by politicians in ItalyTop-officials and lawmakers across Italy's political spectrum have strongly condemned Washington violence by rioters supporting outgoing US president Donald Trump.

Four people died, including one woman shot by a police officer, during Wednesday's protests and rioting on Capitol Hill by pro-Trump demonstrators.

Italy's Foreign Minister Luigi DI Maio described the events in Washington as very serious, calling it a real disgrace to democracy, an attack on the freedoms of the American people. Later in the day Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said he is looking forward to working together with Joe Biden to promote a global agenda aimed at growth, sustainability and inclusion.

It's not just Trump's domestic failures that are in the spotlight. Since assuming office in 2017, the outgoing US president has pulled out of several international organizations and agreements, including the Iran nuclear deal, which has caused even more discontent and instability around the globe.

Also human rights group Amnesty International has slammed Donald Trump for inciting his supporters - leading thousands to storm and breach the US Capitol - and continuing to reject election results.

On Thursday, Italy's Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio was asked by the ruling Democratic Party to report to parliament on Wednesday's violence at the US Capitol. Di Maio said he will be available to discuss the overwhelming string of events taking place in the US in the first session available.
