Wednesday, 06 January 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian President urges US president-elect to compensate for US’ past mistakes.
During the Cabinet session on Wednesday, Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani urged US president-elect, Joe Biden, to compensate for US’ past mistakes.
“Iran welcomes any move by US President-elect Joe Biden to compensate for past mistakes and return the US to the 2015 nuclear deal with full compliance,” Rouhani said.
He then addressed the next US administration and said in case of fulfillment of US commitments Iran “will likewise return to full compliance to its commitments” and if not, “never will the country give in.”
On May 8, 2018, US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the international agreement and announced the return of nuclear sanctions, in violation of Washington's commitments under the JCPOA.
However, despite using sanctions and other methods to pressurize Iran, Trump has been unable to lure Iran into negotiating a new deal.
This inability manifest itself in Iran’s ability to overcome any hurdle, for instance recently, the Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Behrouz Kamalvandi, said the country is capable of uranium enrichment up to 60 percent.
Moreover, IRGC Spokesman, General Ramezan Sharif said it is Iran who will determine the time and place of revenge for Lt. Gen. Soleimani and highlighted the fact that the country is still cautious about the enemy’s valiant acts and added “Tehran does not rule out the possibility that the United States will commit another act of stupidity against Iran.”
