Tehran, YJC. A team of South Korean trade and economic envoys visited Iran's Shahid Rajayee port on Wednesday to study the investment opportunities in there.
The four-member delegation comprising diplomats of the South
Korean embassy in Tehran met director general of Hormuzgan Ports and Maritime
Organization Ibrahim Idani and Head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry's
Representative Office in the province, According to Fars news agency.
The South Korean Trade Attaché thanked the Iranian foreign
ministry and Ports and Maritime Organization for arranging the visit to Shahid
Rajayee Port, and said, "We will encourage the South Korean Companies to
invest in Shahid Rajayee port after we become familiar with the port's
capabilities and capacities."
Idani, for his part, said that most of South Korea's
commodities enter the Iranian markets through Shahid Rajayee port, and added,
"For the same reason we are looking for increasing the level of our
cooperation with South Korean ports."
Last month, South Korean President Park Geun-hye in a
meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Seoul Hassan Taherian voiced Korean
companies' willingness to play a stronger role in the Iranian market.
"The Korean companies are interested in (wider)
presence in the Iranian market," President Park said during the meeting in
Seoul.
The South Korean president pointed to the status quo of
Seoul-Tehran relations, and expressed the hope that the countries' ties would
further broaden in the future.
The Iranian ambassador, for his part, pointed to the good
relations between the two states, and said, "The conditions are set for
cooperation and deepening of relations in all areas."
Iranian Ambassador to Seoul Ahmad Massoumifar said a large
delegation of South Korean industrialists and investors are due to take part in
a business and trade conference in Iran's Northern province of Qazvin in the
near future.
