Tehran, YJC. Supreme Leader advisor says recent US sanctions only serve a psychological war.
Head of the Expediency Discernment Council Strategic
Research Center Ali Akbar Velayati attended a joint press conference with Finland’s
Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja in Tehran on Sunday.
In answer to a question regarding the recent US sanctions on
Iran he said "These sanctions are in disagreement with the Geneva agreement. But
we were not surprised because Americans have never kept their word.”
Velayati, also one of the Supreme Leader’s advisors, added "One
of the reasons why the Supreme Leader and the government of the Islamic
Republic of Iran stress resistance economy, which is something that the Majlis endorses
by the way, is lack of trust in the US and its allies.”
He said "By doing so, which has economic effects as well,
Americans are waging a psychological war. But the Islamic Republic of Iran will
find its way, because a country with 15 neighbors cannot be put under sanctions.”
Various contracts that are signed with China, Russia, India,
and some other countries such as South Africa and Brazil prove that there are
ways to nullify the negative effects of the sanctions, Velayati noted.
