Sunday, 1 November 2020 (YJC)_ Iranian Foreign Minister revealed some aspects of Iran’s Initiative over Karabakh.

Zarif remarks on Iran’s Initiative over KarabakhIranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, revealed some aspects of Iran’s Initiative over Karabakh.

On his Sunday remarks Iranian Foreign Minister hinted that Iran has been in touch with countries such as Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, and Turkey from the start of tensions in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Then he pointed “in our opinion the war will leave damages on regional countries and so these countries can have the most influence on ending the war.”

“without competing with other opponents such as Minsk, we pursued these dialogues and aims” he emphasized.

He then continued to say that one valuable feature of Iran’s plan is it does not solely relate to a temporary ceasefire and added “it pursues moving towards solving problems and to make both sides' committing to some principles”.

Other aspects he highlighted were "ensuring people's rights", "establishing commuting paths", and "regional countries' monitoring over the process of implementing the peace plan".

Zarif also reiterated that Iran will not tolerate the presence of terrorists near its borders.
