Tehran, YJC. After much delay, the Egyptian government has agreed to let Iran’s humanitarian aid package reach Gaza.

An informed Iranian Foreign Ministry official said Friday that the Egyptian Government has agreed with receiving Iranˈs food and medicine aids in Cairo to forward them to Gaza.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society has prepared another 100 metric ton consignment for the purpose that will soon be forwarded by air to Cairo for the suffering Palestinians in the war-torn Gaza Strip, IRNA reports.

In late July the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian had informed the media that the Iranian Red Crescentˈs first consignment of humanitarian aids was forwarded to Egypt to be transferred to Gaza.

That consignment was forwarded by air to Cairo following the issuance of an order by President Hassan Rouhani to forward food and medicine for the besieged Gaza Strip residents who were under merciless attack of the Zionist regime and harmonizing with Egyptian officials.

That consignment remained in Cairo, waiting for the Egyptian officialsˈ permit to be forwarded through the Rafah Crossing into Gaza.
