Sunday, 11 October 2020 (YJC)_ Iranians are commemorating their famed and prominent poet, Hafez, both in Tehran and Shiraz.
This year October 11 is recognized as Hafez Day in Iran to commemorate Shams al-Din Mohammad Hafez-e Shirazi, better known as 'Hafez', the 14th-century lyric poet of Persian classical literature.
Hafez-e Shirazi is a well-known Iranian mystic and poet who is revered as one of the most influential Persian poets of all time. He is greatly admired for his work and poetry.
He was born sometime between the years 1310-1337, in the city of Shiraz, the city which is known as the city of love, poetry, and civilization.
He is mostly remembered for his lyrical poetry written in ghazals, a difficult and uniquely Persian verse-form.
National Day of Hafez is held each year on 12th October.
Hafez is regarded as the most influential Persian poets of all time and is one of the most beloved poets among Persians.
Last evening a ceremony honoring Hafez’s anniversary was held at the Tomb of Hafez.
