Friday, 09 October 2020_In a football friendly, Iran have defeated Uzbekistan 2-1 away from home, in their first match under new head coach, Dragan Skočić.
Team Melli went ahead on the verge of half-time, when Sardar Azmoun unleashed a powerful strike from outside the box, that zoomed past the keeper, and rattled the back of the net.
Then, five minutes into the second half, Iran doubled the lead through Mehdi Taremi, who converted a penalty, which he himself had won.
The hosts pulled one back instantly, as Eldor Shomurodov produced a clinical finish to find the bottom corner, but that was as far as the Uzbeks could go, as Iran held on to secure the win.
Up next for Team Melli will be a trip to Turkey on Tuesday, to play another friendly, this time against Mali.
