Thursday, 10 September 2020 (YJC)_ McDonald's has been slammed by vegetarian customers after its Veggie Dippers were removed from sale - now they're left choosing between mozzarella dippers, fries or a fruit bag.
When McDonald's restaurants reopened following the coronavirus lockdown, a number of measures were put in place to follow government guidelines, including a reduced menu to help control demand.
Popular data-x-items like McNuggets, burgers from the classic Big Mac to the new Triple Cheeseburger, milkshakes - if your ever fortunate to catch the machine working - McFlurry's and of course the beloved hash browns and breakfast muffins have returned to fulfil our takeaway needs.
But some customers are outraged by the lack of vegetarian options, Manchester Evening News reports.
Many customers claim that staff have told them there has been a "national shortage" when they ask for the Veggie Dippers.
But it turns out they've been removed from sale, according to a tweet by the fast-food company.
In reply to a customer's query about the item being "recalled" it said: "Hi, we have recently removed the Veggie Dippers from sale. We will return these products to the menu as soon as we can."
This has meant that vegetarian customers have been left with only 'mozzarella dippers, fries or a fruit bag.'
Many vegetarian customers were quick to share their frustrations online.
One commented: "FYI there is no veggie dippers (the only vegan main on the menu) at McDonald’s, anywhere, due to supplier issues..."
Another added: "Why the f*** has McDonald’s removed all their veggie stuff I am gonna cry."
A third wrote: "WHY THE HELL HAVE YOU RECALLED THE 1 VEGGIE OPTION ON YOUR MENU?!????!!!!"
