Saturday, 05 September 2020 (YJC)_ Iran’s ambassador to the Vienna-based international organizations response to the recent report released yesterday by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is that it establishes positive, constructive outlook in Iran-IAEA relations.
Iranian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Vienna-Based International Organizations, Kazzem Qaribabadi, made his response toward the latest report released by the International Atomic Energy Agency on Safeguards Agreement with Iran and highlighted that it is indicator of positive and constructive prospects for relations between the Islamic Republic and the IAEA.
Gharibabadi said the report shows that there exist a constructive interaction between Tehran and the UN nuclear watchdog to reach a mutual understanding and find a solution for the problems raised.
He continues that the message received from the report is significant and can be scrutinized from two separate points of view, that is, It either “indicates the constructive interaction of the two sides during the period to reach a common understanding and find solutions to issues." or, in terms of content, “It clearly portrays a clear and positive image of the current state of cooperation and a positive and constructive outlook in relations between Iran and the IAEA”, which is expected to be accepted by the majority of IAEA member states and the Board of Governors.
The report referred to a trip by IAEA chief Rafael Grossi to Tehran on August 24 and 25 and his talks with senior Iranian officials, which led to a joint statement aimed at strengthening cooperation and building more confidence, Gharibabadi added.
Elsewhere in his speech he added “Based on the report, the Agency has been granted access to one of the two demanded sites and the access to the second site has been planned for this month,”
On August 26, at the end of Grossi’s visit to Tehran, Iran and the IAEA issued a joint statement on agreements and the results of high-level negotiations between the two sides.
According to the statement, the IAEA and Iran “agreed to further strenghten their cooperation and enhance mutual trust” to facilitate the full implementation of Iran’s Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement (CSA) and the Additional Protocol (AP) thereto, which is provisionally applied by Iran since January 16, 2016.
